School Visit as Part of Academic Practicals
As part of their academic practicals, III Semester Psychology (FYUGP) students visited a nearby school to administer psychological experiments such as the Seguin Form Board. The activity provided students with hands-on experience in psychological assessment and helped them apply theoretical knowledge in a real-life educational setting.
Internship Programme for Final Year Students
As part of the curriculum, final-year Psychology students completed a 15-day internship at Spell Learning Support Centre, Thrissur (Kodungallur). The internship provided hands-on training in areas such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) management and working with children with learning and attention difficulties, enabling students to gain practical exposure and apply psychological knowledge in real-world settings
Workshop on Anxiety and Mental Health
Second-year Psychology students attended a workshop on Anxiety and Mental Health conducted by Counselling Psychologist Ms. Nishi Salam at Nishi Salam’s Counselling and Remediation Centre. The session enhanced students’ understanding of mental health concerns and therapeutic perspectives, providing valuable exposure to professional counselling practices.
Alumni Talk — PsyConnect
The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Alumni Club and IQAC, organized an Alumni Talk titled PsyConnect on 22 August 2025. The session was led by alumna Ms. Devika Sundar, who shared her academic journey, professional experiences, and insights into mental health practice. The interactive talk provided students with valuable career guidance, practical exposure to the field of psychology, and motivation to pursue professional growth, fostering meaningful alumni–student engagement.
Documentary Presentation — Beyond Normal: A Special Screening on Abnormal Psychology
On 31 July 2025, the Department of Psychology, in association with IQAC, organized an exclusive documentary screening titled Beyond Normal. The programme aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health and abnormal psychological conditions among students. Following the screening, faculty members and student representatives conducted a brief interactive session, which led to a group discussion, encouraging critical thinking, reflection, and active participation. The event provided a meaningful platform for academic dialogue and collaborative learning within the department.
Outreach Programme
The Department of Psychology, in association with IQAC, conducted an Outreach Programme on 24 July 2025 at VCSHSS, Puthenvelikkara, to promote awareness on psychological well-being and self-understanding. The session was jointly handled by faculty members and student representatives, encouraging active interaction and community engagement.
Interaction Session with a Counselling Psychologist
The Department of Psychology organized an interaction session where students met with Counselling Psychologist Ms. Nishi Salam, along with faculty members. The session focused on her professional experiences, therapeutic practices, and approaches to engaging with clients, offering students valuable insight into real-world counselling practice and client interaction.
Interactive Session with a Sports Psychologist
The Department of Psychology organized an interactive session with Sports Psychologist Ms. Mridula B Pai, Sports & Management Research Institute,Ernakulam for the students. The session focused on career opportunities in sports psychology, commonly used methods and techniques, and professional approaches adopted while working with athletes, offering students practical insight into this emerging field.
